Lisbon, 25-26 November 2019
This year’s edition of the Lisbon Forum – organized by the North/South Centre of the Council of Europe at the Ismaili Centre - has represented a great opportunity to reflect on the relation between development and human rights, the rule of law and democracy and their implications for the global achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Journalists from COPEAM’s network – Radio Tunisienne, EPRS Algérie, RTVE Spain and SNRT Morocco – have extensively covered this 25th edition with news, radio and video interviews and other media content to widen the visibility of the event that, since 1994, has been a distinctive platform bringing together different stakeholders, CSOs and decision-makers from Europe and other continents to share experiences, good practices and expertise on major and critical concerns of our global and interconnected societies.
During a side meeting, the representatives of the N/S Centre, of COPEAM and of UNESCO Maghreb had discussed together about the implementation of a training activity in four phases for young journalists, to be organized in the framework of the North-South Centre’s Programme 2020-2021 “WE promote diversity and equality”. The 4 planned workshops will take place along next biennium and will feature participants from all over the South-Mediterranean area, called to improve the treatment and coverage of cultural and sexist stereotypes, as well as to promote gender and other forms of diversity in the media.
