Lebanon: meeting between COPEAM Secretary General and the Information Minister


(ANSAmed)BEIRUT, May 17 – The development of Lebanon's participation in the activities of the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM) was the object of a meeting in Beirut between the Secretary General of the Association, Pier Luigi Malesani, and the Information Minister, Walid Daouk.

"Lebanon is very important for us, especially considering the difficult period this country is facing" due to the crisis in Syria, Malesani told ANSA. He also visited the studios of the public television Télé Liban, the first television channel founded, in 1959, in the Middle East.

Following the success of the last editions, COPEAM supports the 2013 PLURAL+ Video Festival. organised by UNAOC and IOM in cooperation with a wide number of international partners.

THE COMPETITION
By 30 June 2013, young people aged between 9 and 25 are invited to submit short videos expressing their experiences and thoughts on migration, diversity, social inclusion, identity, as well as highlighting realities and ideas for peaceful relations between cultures and religions.

COPEAM at the Euro-Med Media meeting “Media facing tensions and transitions in the Mediterranean”


In preparation of the Mediterranean Forum, taking place in Marseille from 4 to 7 April 2013, the Anna Lindh Foundation organised a meeting in Barcelona (Spain) on the 1st and 2nd March. In the occasion of the 32nd General Assembly of ASBU, held in Cairo from 11 to 13 December 2012, the tripartite meeting ASBU-COPEAM-EBU took place, as usual.

The audiovisual cooperation to succeed the Mediterranean challenges

“The audiovisual cooperation to succeed the Mediterranean challenges”: this is the message launched in Turin by COPEAM, during the 64th edition of Prix Italia, radio-television competition organized annually by Rai-Radiotelevisione Italiana.

Actually, media are gaining a more and more important role, becoming determining actors in the main challenges that the Mediterranean has to face, such as the dialectic between modernity and tradition, the role of women, the problems and the future of young people, the environmental priorities, the religious presence and the interreligious dialogue.
