COPEAM and RAI join forces once again in the field of digitization of audiovisual archives


Two years after the important training “Digitization of Audiovisual Archives”, hosted by Rai in Rome in 2022 in collaboration with COPEAM and with over 20 beneficiaries from the network (Balkans and MENA Region), an update webinar will be held in February and March 2025, open to the same group of participants and to their colleagues from the AV archives departments.

RAI experts from different sectors such as Archives, Technologies, ICT and CRITS (Centre for Research, Technological Innovation and Experimentation) will once again be involved, animating 2 online sessions.

“Reporting Climate Change – Microcredentials for international journalists” – new edition of the e-learning programme


The call for candidature for the new edition of the e-learning programme “Reporting Climate Change – Microcredentials for international journalists”, developed by COPEAM and Uninettuno University with the support of the Italian Ministry of University and Research, is now open.

This multilingual, postgraduate academic programme has been specifically designed to enhance the reporting skills of journalists on Climate Change and environment related issues.

Advancing Diversity & Inclusion in Journalism


COPEAM has been granted a new funding from the European Union, as partner of a consortium led by C.A.R.E.S – Osservatorio di Pavia and composed also by Fondazione Diversity Ets, Fundación para la Diversidad and International Federation of Journalists. Under the ERASMUS+ Small-scale program, “Advancing Diversity & Inclusion in Journalism” recently launched as a project to explore concrete ways of promoting diversity and inclusion values in newsrooms’ culture and practices, starting from the increasingly clear and shared assumption that without diverse and inclusive teams, newsrooms would miss out on critical viewpoints, perspectives and voices.

COPEAM-EIB Transnational Newsroom in the framework of the COP28


Dubai, 4-8 December 2023

In the framework of the partnership with the EIB-European Investment Bank, COPEAM has set up a transnational newsroom to cover the COP28 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, hosted by the UAE in Dubai in December 2023.    
Under the coordination of a senior international expert and with the support of a local production team and of COPEAM staff, the 10 selected journalists worked for 3 intense days to produce news items about this huge international event, shooting, writing, recording and editing several reportages, analysis and interviews which were then published or aired…

“The podcast revolution: new strategies in radio broadcasting” – International training by RAI in collaboration with COPEAM and ASBU


Rome, 22 -24 November 2023

A 3-day training about podcasting was organised by RAI in Rome, in collaboration with COPEAM and ASBU. 20 delegates from several public radios of the two networks – RTSH/Albania, BNR/Bulgaria, Radio Romania, RTK/Kosovo, RTS/Serbia, EPRS/Algeria, Tunisian Radio and Radio Tunisienne RTCI, ERT/Greece, Radio Liban, Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA), SNRT/Morocco – and from ASBU radio department attended the workshop.

RAI, COPEAM and ASBU together for audiovisual archives


From 14 to 17 December 2022, a training workshop on the digitization of AV archives brought together in Rome around twenty managers and technical experts from public broadcasters of the Balkans and the MENA region: HRT/Croatia, RTCG/Montenegro, RTK/Kosovo, MKRTV/North Macedonia, BNT/Bulgaria, PBS/Malta, RTSH/Albania, PBC/Palestine, Télévision Tunisienne/Tunisia, TVR/Romania, EPTV/Algeria, Libya Sports Channels/Libya.

The event was organized by Rai with the support of COPEAM and ASBU. Participants could benefit from the expertise of professionals coming from different RAI’s departments, namely the Centre for Research, Technological Innovation and Experimentation – CRITS, Rai “Teche” (archives) department and Rai ICT.

Re-writing the story: Gender, media and politics


COPEAM has won an EU funding as partner of a consortium composed by the IFJ – International Federation of Journalists (leading partner) and the University of Padua, in the framework of the “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme​​” (CERV).

This project will address obstacles to equal representation of women and men in politics and will involve stakeholders such as media managers, journalists’ unions and associations, gender equality specialists, academics and students in communication and journalism.

Workshop “AI for audiovisual archives: current challenges and future perspectives”


Zagreb, 23-24 March 2023

With a view to relaunching its action in favour of audiovisual heritage, COPEAM has set up an international workshop – hosted by HRT in Zagreb on 23 and 24 March 2023 – in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision, a leading organization in the field of media culture and AV archiving.

E-learning course “Reporting Climate Change” – 2022 edition


October-December 2022

As part of the of the collaboration with the EIB-European Investment Bank, a new edition of the training for journalists dedicated to climate change started in October to be ended in December 2022. Accessible 24/7 on the e-learning platform of the International Telematic University Uninettuno, partner of the project, this course counts 5 learning modules available in English, French and Arabic, as well as a rich bibliography and sitography on the topic.
