Considered the very encouraging results of the peer-to-peer activity implemented by COPEAM and MedMedia (EU-funded project aimed to facilitate the progress of media reforms in the MENA region) in 2015-2016 and intended to reinforce gender-equality policies and to counter sexist stereotypes in 9 TV and radio public South-Mediterranean broadcasters associated to COPEAM, a new capacity-building exchange process is launched to strengthen the planning and implementing in-house training strategies and plans capable, notably, to manage the digital transition challenges: “Managing the digital transition: a training challenge for media organizations”.

Training project in Algeria “Media in favour of female entrepreneurs”

The training/production workshop for journalists on the topic “Media in favour of female entrepreneurs” took place in Algeria from 16 to 19 January 2017. Organized by COPEAM in collaboration with the EPRS (the Algerian Public Radio), with the support of the French Embassy in Algeria (Service for Cooperation and Cultural Action) and the UNESCO Office for the Maghreb, it was addressed to a group of 15 journalists from the Algerian public radio and television and the APS-Algeria Press Service.

Aside a series of events devoted to the media in the Mediterranean – debates, workshops, conferences, seminars, shows – the Villa Méditerranée/AViTeM organised last June 16 and 17 in Marseille, gathering audiovisual and press journalists, experts, artists, associations and institutions from the whole region, COPEAM, in collaboration with the EU-funded MedMedia project,  held a roundtable and a professional meeting devoted to journalism training in the southern shore of the Mediterranean basin.

Towards a responsible information on immigration and refugees

In the framework of the Sabir Festival of the Mediterranean Cultures (12-15 May 2016, Pozzallo – Sicily), COPEAM was invited by the Association “Carta di Roma – promoting in Italy the Journalist’s Code of Conduct on immigration – to take part in a continuous training session open to the Sicilian journalists about reporting on migration and refugees issues.

COPEAM joins MedMedia project in favour of gender equality in public media


COPEAM joined the project MedMedia, an EU funded action conducted by a consortium led by BBC Media Action, aiming at creating a favourable environment for media reform in the southern Mediterranean region, with a particular emphasis on legislation, regulation, programming, supporting strategies in the transition process of these media to a real public service mission.

3rd COPEAM-TRT Forum on training strategies

COPEAM and TRT-Turkish Radio and TV Corporation have been organising since 2013 an annual regional meeting in Ankara, at TRT headquarters, devoted to training strategies planning and implementation in the Mediterranean radio and TV public broadcasters.

The meeting is addressed to the training and HR executives and is aimed at promoting regional networking among professionals, peer-to-peer exchanges, knowledge sharing and good practices dissemination in this sector.The 2015 edition of this 2-day seminar was focused on “Training needs assessment and training evaluation: Tools and Methods” and centred on case-studies’ analysis and concrete exchange of experiences among participants.

Training session on cultural documentary at ERTU


Cairo, 8-13 February 2015

In the framework of the training sessions that ERTU – Egyptian Radio and Television Union is organising and hosting this year, COPEAM contributed to the first workshop on cultural documentary held in Cairo from the 8th to the 13th February 2015.
