“The media coverage of cultural events”


Malta, 29 September – 3 October

Thanks to the cooperation with the Maltese public radio&TV PBS, a 4-day training workshop on cultural journalism was organised in Malta, from the 29 September to the 3 October. The training was attended by 11 young English-speaking journalists from RTVSH/Albania, GPB/Georgia, RAI/Italy, PBS/Malta, PBC/Palestine, Radio Romania, TVR/Romania and TRT/Turkey.
Three experts from COPEAM network – France24, PBS, TRT – were appointed to this initiative to accompany the participants during the course in reporting the cultural events and topics preliminarily identified by PBS and assigned to three different working groups.

Towards a Libyan broadcasting public service

COPEAM was the promoter of a training course for journalists and operators of the Libyan National Channel, organized in collaboration with the University of Rome La Sapienza and RAI-Radiotelevisione italiana. This initiative took place in Rome from 19 February to 7 March 2014, thanks to a funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During three weeks, 13 professionals from different regional stations of the Libyan broadcaster had the opportunity to deepen their skills and know-how related to the public service media sector.

2nd COPEAM Forum: Training– Media – Mediterranean


Following the success of the first edition, COPEAM – in collaboration with the Training Department of TRT-Turkish Radio and Television – organised in Ankara, on 17 and 18 March 2014, the second Forum on planning and implementing training strategies in the Mediterranean public broadcasters.
This annual regional meeting is addressed to the training and HR executives of COPEAM broadcaster members and is aimed at promoting networking among professionals, peer-to-peer exchanges, knowledge sharing and good practices dissemination in this sector.

Ljubljana: 3rd UNESCO-COPEAM workshop on the promotion of gender equality


On 15 and 16 July, COPEAM organized in Ljubljana the third seminar on the adaptation of UNESCO Gender-sensitive Indicators for Media. This seminar is part of a larger project promoted by UNESCO on the integration of gender perspective in media policies and professional practices.

Hosted by RTVSLO, the meeting involved a dozen of professionals from different departments who analyzed, selected and adapted the most relevant indicators to the context of their organization.

Forum on training engineering in the Euro-Mediterranean broadcasters


Responding to the request issued from COPEAM Training Commission, the first Forum on training engineering in the Euro-Mediterranean broadcasters was held in Ankara (4-5 February 2013), in collaboration with the Training Department of TRT – Turkish Radio and Television Corporation. It was addressed to the training and human resources managers of COPEAM broadcaster members and to the media training organisations and institutes operating in the region: 13 countries were represented and 11 broadcasters sent delegates to attend this 2-day seminar. UNESCO and COPEAM again together for gender equality promotion in the media


In January 2013, COPEAM organized, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Rabat, a two-day workshop addressed to the SNRT focused on the representation of women in the media.
This was the first step in a longer-term project, that will involve also other broadcaster members of COPEAM.

Internet as a participative tool for the young people of the Adriatic region


COPEAM was invited by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia (Italy) – international relations and cooperation branch “Reggio nel Mondo” – to participate in the event “Brain runner. Internet, multimedia re-use and participative culture” organized from the 20th to the 28th April in Reggio Emilia. Balkans’ Memory – Preserving and Promoting Audiovisual Heritage


Balcans’ Memory project, co-funded by the European Commission, aims at implementing in the Western Balkans the first steps of an ambitious policy of preservation and promotion of audiovisual heritage and to promote the dissemination of good practices and know-how and strengthen the skills of the professionals working in archive centers and broadcasters of the area.

COPEAM-IFAD “Regional Capacity Building in Effective Communication” workshop
