«AUDIOVISUAL ARCHIVES IN THE DIGITAL ERA: A NEW DEAL»
The seminar - jointly organised by INA and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with the support of the
French Embassy in Egypt, ASBU, COPEAM, FIAT/IFTA, and CMCA – was held in Alexandria (Egypt), on 19th and 20th June.
This meeting, whose main objective was that of presenting the state of audiovisual archives preservation
and digitization and of identifying the best modalities to promote the patrimony of the region, gathered several managers and professionals of the sector coming from the Radio&TV companies of the Mediterranean area, including those of Near and Middle Eastern countries:
Albania, Algeria, Cyprus, Arabic Emirates, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Rumania, Spain, Tunisia.
A special attention has been paid by participants to the meeting of the “Audiovisual archives” Group of COPEAM, held in the framework of the seminar and devoted to the implementation of the project “Crossing memories of the Mediterranean”: the setting up of an internet portal based on audiovisual archives, and aimed at promoting the Mediterranean heritage.
25 radio/TV representatives took part in this meeting.
