Rabat, 11/13 July 2011
Terramed Plus project - co-funded by the EU and started on the 1st March 2011 - is in its preparatory phase. After the kick-off meeting organised in Rome (9-10 March 2011) gathering all the partners, the operational meeting focused on the definition of the main editorial and technical issues and standards of both satellite and internet components of the action took place in Rabat from 11 to 13 July 2011.
The 3-day session was the occasion of sharing ideas about the future web platform and the VoD library to be implemented by the SNRT, the subtitles production carried out by the EPTV, the satellite weekly promotion activity and the overall action workflow involving all the partners.
Next meeting again in Rabat, in autumn, when the first outcomes of Terramed Plus will be on-air.

| <br />The activities envisaged by the project, launched on the <strong><span data-scayt_word="1st" data-scaytid= "4">1<sup>st< /sup></span> March 2011</strong>, will be implemented within <strong>30 months</strong>. <span data-scayt_word="TERRAMED" data-scaytid= "5">TERRAMED</span> PLUS gathers seven broadcaster partners from the North and the South of the Euro-Mediterranean region: <strong>RAI</strong>, supported by <strong><span data-scayt_word="COPEAM" data-scaytid= "7">COPEAM</span> </strong>in the international coordination of the action, <strong><span data-scayt_word="ARTE" data-scaytid= "8">ARTE</span> France</strong>, the Algerian public television <strong><span data-scayt_word="EPTV" data-scaytid= "9">EPTV</span></strong>, <strong>France <span data-scayt_word= "Télévisions" data-scaytid= "10">Télévisions< /span></strong>, the Spanish public television <strong><span data-scayt_word="RTVE" data-scaytid= "11">RTVE</span> </strong>and the Moroccan one <strong><span data-scayt_word="SNRT" data-scaytid= "12">SNRT</span></strong>, <strong><span data-scayt_word= "TéléLiban" data-scaytid= "13">TéléLiban</span> </strong>as associated partner. <strong><span data-scayt_word="Skylogic" data-scaytid= "14">Skylogic< /span>/<span data-scayt_word="Eutelsat" data-scaytid= "15">Eutelsat< /span></strong> is the technological partner of the consortium. | |||
| <span data-scayt_word="TERRAMED" data-scaytid= "16">TERRAMED</span> PLUS will propose a <strong>weekly satellite “window”</strong> promoting the <span data-scayt_word= "programmes" data-scaytid= "36">programmes</span> broadcast by the TV partners aiming at portraying and showing the Mediterranean through a sort of shared <em>mosaic-programming schedule.</em> | |||
| In addition to the satellite promotion, the project proposes the carrying out of a web platform conceived so to include a <strong>video-on-demand library</strong>, where <strong>115 hours of products</strong> (documentaries, short films, feature films, fiction and animated films) by the participating televisions will be accessible free in streaming and in sub-titled version. | |||
| With the aim to contribute to fostering the circulation of audiovisual works and the development of a regional audience – among the main objectives of the <span data-scayt_word="Euromed" data-scaytid= "38">Euromed</span> Audiovisual III <span data-scayt_word="Programme" data-scaytid= "39">Programme</span> – each partner of the project will enrich the video-library with its own products. | |||
| A crucial role will be played by the two Southern televisions, the Moroccan one (<strong><span data-scayt_word="SNRT" data-scaytid= "42">SNRT</span></strong>) and the Algerian one (<strong><span data-scayt_word="EPTV" data-scaytid= "43">EPTV</span></strong>), in charge respectively of the carrying out and the management of the web platform, and of the production of the Arabic, French and English sub-titles. | |||
| Thanks to this multilateral and innovating project, a partnership of major public broadcasters will be strengthen, the cooperation among the audiovisual professionals of the region will be reinforced and the circulation of Mediterranean creation works will be promoted and encouraged. | |||

The web platform will live on, and thus, the next challenge for the partners is the future of the project.
