Malta, 26-28 March 2015
The sea tragedies have become ordinary by now; only in the last month, hundreds and hundreds deaths have drowned again in the Mediterranean.
Thus, strong and shared actions are essential. This is why COPEAM and its members chose this year to devote the 22nd Conference of the Association to the theme: “The Mediterranean and the exodus of populations: the role of the media”.
This meeting allowed to gather the high representatives of the institutions active in the immigration, refugees and intercultural dialogue fields, such as UNHCR, the Anna Lindh Foundation and the European External Action Service, together with the media of the Region, to promote a joint reflection on these urgent matters.
This reflection led the COPEAM members to conceive and unanimously adopt a Resolution mobilizing the media, in particular the public service ones, around some principles and concrete proposals promoting adequate, correct and complete information about topics dealing with immigration.

Before closing the plenary session, the COPEAM Prize of the Plural + Festival 2014 edition – promoted by the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) – was conferred to the audiovisual work "Letter from a refugee", focused on the direct witnesses of Syrian girls run away to Lebanon.
Along the two-day Conference, the COPEAM Commissions met as usual to make an assessment of the achieved and the ongoing projects, and define the action plan for the coming months, gathering such proposals in their respective final resolutions.
Finally, next COPEAM annual conference in 2016 in Ajaccio was officially announced, thanks to the kind invitation of the Collectivité Territoriale de Corse (Corsica Region).
