Kantara celebrates its 25th anniversary

The Kantara team has just concluded a rich and exciting 2023-2024 radio season: 43 issues dedicated to news and culture from around the Mediterranean with a single objective: to continue informing and bringing together the Mediterranean in its diversity.

Indeed, it is in the name of this continuity that the programme celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, since when, in 1999, Pierre Mari (France Bleu RCFM) and Hanane Laimani (Chaine Inter Morocco) imagined and launched the utopia of a radio bridge between the shores of the Mediterranean.

“Advancing Diversity & Inclusion in Journalism” first 2 on-line workshops

More than 50 professionals from 15 countries took part in two online training workshops on Inclusive Journalism, held in June as part of the EU-funded project “Advancing Diversity and Inclusion in Journalism” (AD&IJ)* under the Erasmus + Small Scale programme.

The 1st workshop “Inclusive Journalism: a path to a better representation” involved journalists and editorial teams and focused on practical strategies and methods for a respectful and free from stereotypes information. TRT Haber to chair ABU News Group

Mr. Ahmet Görmez, the news coordinator of TRT Haber, has been elected Chair of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) News Group. His success follows the election of TRT Director General Prof. Mehmet Zahid Sobacı as the President of ABU in November 2023.

Mr. Görmez was unanimously elected Chair of the ABU News Group during the annual meeting of the group held in Bangkok. Representatives from Japan’s NHK and Australia’s ABC were elected for the vice-chair positions.
