Madrid, 13-15 November 2023
From 13 to 15 November 2023, a group of European journalists with prior experience in reporting on migration gathered in Madrid, Spain, for a three-day capacity building and networking activity. The workshop was organized by COPEAM in the framework of the EU co-funded project E3J - European Excellence Exchange in Journalism (Creative Europe Programme - CREA) and with the aim of fostering cross-border collaborations.
RTVE, the Spanish public broadcaster, hosted the training in its headquarters of Torrespaña.
The 20 beneficiaries included media professionals from public radio and televisions, from the press, and freelancers from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Belgium, Serbia, Denmark, Bulgaria and Romania.
After the first workshop of this kind organized by COPEAM in Belgrade in February 2023 and focused on the so-called “Balkans route”, the second one in Madrid was dedicated to labour migration and related challenges. The activity was led by the international trainer Charles Autheman and included also the participation of external experts in labour migration from international organizations (IOM), the civil society (Carta di Roma Association) and local trade unions (CCOO-Industria).
The initiative was intended to encourage the production of journalistic contents, even in a cross-border and collaborative perspective, with the aim of contributing to a fairer information of public opinion in Europe and its neighbouring countries.
