COPEAM was invited to the conference "Connecting, Communicating and Networking with Diasporas", which marked the launch of EUROMED Migration IV, an EU-funded project led by the European Commission DG NEAR. Stakeholders from the European Neighbourhood Instrument South Partner Countries (ENI SPC) and European Union Member States (EU MS), together with other key actors, gathered from 4 to 6 of May at Dublin castle in the framework of this meeting, hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, and organised in co-operation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the support of Diaspora Matters.
The Deputy Secretary-General of COPEAM, Mrs. Paola Parri, particularly contributed to the interactive panel on “Diasporas and the Media”, showing the example of Inter-Rives, the Euro-Arab TV coproduction whose first edition represents a best practice in building up new narratives around migration in the mainstream media.
This specific topic was the focus of a break-out session devoted to success stories from Diasporas, intended to improve the construction of public opinions on migration and the representation of migrants and Diaspora in mass media, both traditional and social ones.
