Last 23 and 24 October at the Villa Méditerranée of Marseille, COPEAM organized a meeting of its Radio Commission. This was the occasion to gather the representatives of the member radios to discuss about the ongoing activities and to fix the priorities for the forthcoming steps in the Euro-Mediterranean radio cooperation field.
The participants made also an assessment of the weekly magazines coproduced under the aegis of COPEAM: Kantara, Mediterradio and MusicaMed.
This meeting took place in the framework of the Médi-Médias event: The Mediterranean of the media, organized by the Club de la Presse Marseille-Provence-Alpes du Sud, in partnership with the Provence Alpes Côtes d’Azur Region and the Villa Méditerranée/AVITEM.
In particular, the participants looked into the definition of the new coproduction around the topic of the Mediterranean women, so to better detail the approach and the editorial line and identify the measures to support the co-producers (coordination and training workshops).
A call for participation will be soon spread out among COPEAM members inviting them all to take part in this series devoted to portraits of anonymous women, confronted with the main stakes of the Mediterranean current developments.
A particular attention was devoted to the coordination of the Commission media events: The Binmen of the Med, a coastal cleaning operation born 10 years ago in Algeria upon the initiative of the RECIF association with the support of the Algerian Radio, then opened to COPEAM members, who discussed there the coordination aspects concerning the 4th edition in 2016; the World Radio Day, organized yearly on 13 February upon UNESCO’s initiative and promoting the role played by radio in the contemporary society. The 2016 edition, devoted to the radio in crisis situations, was presented by Mr. Riffaud from UNESCO.
The coordination meeting of the programs coproduced in the framework of COPEAM gathered the journalists involved all the year long on the different magazines. This was an important opportunity to analyze the successes and the difficulties encountered in the realization of this exceptional products, as well as to propose an enlargement of the existing partnerships.
On Saturday 24, one special episode of Mediterradio and one of Kantara were devoted to Medi-Médias and to Villa Méditerranée’s actions. A second episode of Kantara focused on the situation in Greece and Syria with, notably, the participation of many guests present in Marseille on that occasion.
