On 9 and 10 July 2024, a group of film directors from 13 TV members of COPEAM and ASBU (Arab States Broadcasting Union) met in Rome to kick off the new documentary coproduction “Inter-Rives” on the chosen topic “The power of art: creativity for change".
This edition, marking the 10th anniversary of this Euro-Arab cooperation project led by COPEAM and ASBU, will involve public broadcasters such as RAI/Italy, France Télévisions, RTVE/Spain, HRT/Croatia, BNT/ Bulgaria, ERT/Greece, Télévision Tunisienne, SNRT/Morocco, JRTV/Jordan, PBC/Palestine, Iraqi TV, Oman TV and Saudi TV.
Once completed, Inter Rives 10 will show stories of men and women who, through their creativity and art in different forms, produce a positive cultural and social change within their communities; an evocative “journey through images” that will bring different audiences all around the Mediterranean region and beyond, reaching the Arab peninsula and Iraq.
During the workshop organized in Rome and hosted by Rai-Radiotelevisione italiana, the directors and experts involved in the project discussed and chose the stories that will compose the documentary series, and shared a common editorial framework.
In February 2025, in Tunis, the film directors will gather again to present their films and analyse them together before finalization. Thanks to the so called “basket formula”, all the participating TVs will produce one short documentary (13’) and will obtain the rights to broadcast the whole series, planned from March 2025.
