On 15 September 2019, the day before the official kick off of the 20th edition of the University on Youth and Development, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe invites civil society organisations, working on the promotion of women’s rights in the European, Southern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan regions to a preparatory meeting to establish future partnerships.
In view of the implementation of its next project on Women Empowerment starting in 2020, the North-South Centre will gather potential partners to present its strategy and launch the upcoming programme guidelines. Aiming at combating sexism and discrimination, the project will be designed to support, build the capacities of youth activists and journalists from the European, Southern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan region. It will also seek to encourage a strengthened cooperation between youth organisations and media to tackle harmful gender and cultural stereotypes, while promoting gender equality, global citizenship and inclusive societies through capacity-building and awareness-raising. The project is expected to be implemented from 2020 onwards in the framework of the University on Youth and Development (UYD) and the Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship (MedUni).
