PLURAL+ 2015: COPEAM special prize

Since 2009, COPEAM has been supporting the PLURAL+ Video Festival, organized by UNAOC and IOM, in cooperation with a wide number of international partners. The main goal of this competition is to give voice to young video makers expressing their experiences and thoughts on migration, diversity and social inclusion. Over 200 short videos from all over the world have been submitted this year in the three categories grouped by age (9-12, 13-17, 18-25). In the 2015 edition, COPEAM decided to assign its special prize to “Story of Hakeem” by Osama Hamouda, on the basis of the following motivation:

Training workshop on cultural journalism

Malta, 29 September – 3 October, 2014

The first training workshop on cultural journalism, organised by COPEAM and PBS, was held in Malta from 29 September to 3 October, 2014. 11 journalists from RTVSH/Albania, GPB/Georgia, RAI/Italia, PBS/Malta, PBC/Palestine, Radio Romania, TVR/Romania and TRT/Turkey participated in this 4-day practical workshop and produced together a 9-minute TV news package and a radio feature about some current and forthcoming cultural events taking place in Malta: the annual “Notte Bianca”, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, experimental dance performances, etc.

Malta, 29 September – 3 October

Thanks to the cooperation with the Maltese public radio&TV PBS, a 4-day training workshop on cultural journalism was organised in Malta, from the 29 September to the 3 October. The training was attended by 11 young English-speaking journalists from RTVSH/Albania, GPB/Georgia, RAI/Italy, PBS/Malta, PBC/Palestine, Radio Romania, TVR/Romania and TRT/Turkey.
Three experts from COPEAM network – France24, PBS, TRT – were appointed to this initiative to accompany the participants during the course in reporting the cultural events and topics preliminarily identified by PBS and assigned to three different working groups.

COPEAM renews its media partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation in the framework of the 8th edition of the Mediterranean Journalist Award, aimed at recognizing the positive role played by the media in reporting on issues of cultural diversity and providing balanced information on such subjects.
COPEAM is also part, as it was in the past editions, of the international Jury in charge of the selection of the works in competition.

The award-winning list of the 33rd International URTI Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary – ARMAN Trophy – was announced during a ceremony organized in the presence of many personalities at the Hotel de Paris in Monte-Carlo on Sunday, June 8 2014, in the framework of the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Bernard Yerles, actor and director, succeeded Youssou N’dour for the presidency of the final Jury made up of managers from public televisions from fifteen countries.
