A UN-backed conference in support of Tunisia and Egyptian media broadcasters concluded with leading media corporations, intergovernmental organisations and donors pledging their commitment to coordinate and join up efforts in support of the process of democratic transition in the Arab region.

The 18th annual Conference of COPEAM (Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators), held in the whereabouts of the sea village of Agia Napa, in Cyprus, upon the kind invitation of the Cypriot public broadcaster (CyBC), ended successfully. The Commission carries on its campaign on the new media through the meeting “Mimosa and jasmine. Women and web in the squares of the Arab world”, organised in collaboration with the GIO (Gender Inter-university Observatory) for a better understanding of the reasons of women participation in the Arab popular revolutions and the role played by the new media.
The meeting was broadcast in streaming on three web TV (copeam.tv, uniroma.tv and roma3.it) and animated on line on the Facebook page “Mediterranean Women”.

Digital revolution, Internet, interactivity, DTT, social media: nowadays the media landscape is experiencing changes that make journalists question their role in this new multimedia environment.
