Training Commission

The Training Commission is devoted to the organisation of multilateral activities addressed to the professionals from COPEAM broadcasting members. Journalism is the main domain around which the various projects are developed. An action plan has been launched in the field of cultural journalism with the aim of reinforcing the news professionals’ capacities in covering cultural events and issues. Starting from 2013, COPEAM and TRT have been organising an annual regional forum devoted to training strategies planning and implementation in the Mediterranean radio and TV public broadcasters, addressed to training and HR departments’ executives. News Exchange Commission

The News Exchange Commission builds its activity around the Mediterranean regional exchange ERN-Med, which was created in 2002 from the need – born within COPEAM news exchange commission – to enhance intercultural knowledge between the Northern and Southern shores of the Mediterranean. 

Managed by the EBU-Eurovision central desk in Geneva and coordinated by the Algerian national broadcaster EPTV, the ERN-Med allows its public TV members to mutually draw on a varied Euro-Mediterranean agenda, as well as to offer a diversified number of news of regional interest dealing with cultural events – festivals, religious feasts, traditional celebrations, international conferences, etc.

Following the success of the first edition, COPEAM – in collaboration with the Training Department of TRT-Turkish Radio and Television – organised in Ankara, on 17 and 18 March 2014, the second Forum on planning and implementing training strategies in the Mediterranean public broadcasters.
This annual regional meeting is addressed to the training and HR executives of COPEAM broadcaster members and is aimed at promoting networking among professionals, peer-to-peer exchanges, knowledge sharing and good practices dissemination in this sector.

JOUSSOUR: A sparkling conclusion

The Joussour project came officially to an end last December 2013. COPEAM – The Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators – has just joined the Advisory Committee of the European Audiovisual Observatory. The membership of COPEAM in the Observatory’s Advisory Committee was approved by the Observatory’s Executive Council meeting which took place in Strasbourg on the 7th of November.
