Meeting of COPEAM Steering Committee

Istanbul, 17 November 2023

COPEAM Steering Committee was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on November 17, upon kind invitation of the Turkish public broadcaster and vice-president of COPEAM TRT.

During the meeting, an assessment of the financial situation of the Association, together with its main projects, activities and events was made.

The outline of the 31st annual Conference and 30th General Assembly of COPEAM, scheduled in April 2024, was also discussed.

Radio Romania organizes, from November 16 to November 17, 2023, in partnership with ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union), the conference Media & Culture Days, which will be held at the Carol I Central University Library in Bucharest.

The event is a continuation of the Media 2020 conference series, organized by Radio Romania and ABU from 2015 to 2020, which succeeded in enhancing a successful dialogue between media professionals from Europe and Asia-Pacific. Digital Cultures and New Audiovisual Languages

The 30th COPEAM annual Conference on “Digital Cultures and new Audiovisual Languages” took place in Montpellier from 26 to 28 of April, organized in partnership with Radio France and the City of Montpellier.

The opening ceremony started with the greetings of Michael Delafosse, Mayor of Montpellier, of the Claudio Cappon, Secretary General of COPEAM, and of Charles-Emmanuel Bon, Secretary General of Radio France, who welcomed the more than 200 participants, among which delegates from public broadcasters, journalists and operators of the audiovisual and cultural sectors.

COPEAM has won an EU funding as partner of a consortium composed by the IFJ – International Federation of Journalists (leading partner) and the University of Padua, in the framework of the “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme​​” (CERV).

This project will address obstacles to equal representation of women and men in politics and will involve stakeholders such as media managers, journalists’ unions and associations, gender equality specialists, academics and students in communication and journalism.

Since September 2019, when the partnership agreement between COPEAM and TAL – the Union of public and cultural channels of Latin America – was signed, mutual involvement initiatives between the two networks have not stopped multiplying. Radio programmes

COPEAM radio co-productions are back on air in the Mediterranean for the 24th season of Kantara and the 11th of Mediterradio. About forty episodes will be co-produced by the two teams throughout 2023, with the establishment of leading partnerships with major events in the region at the end of 2022 (Film Festivals, FAO, COP27, ICO Solutions, Mediterranean Day).
