World Radio Day 2017: RADIO IS YOU

The 2017 edition of the World Radio Day was announced. As a member of the organizing committee, COPEAM joins UNESCO in inviting all member radios to take part, next 13 February, to this global event and to celebrate radio and its impact on our lives.

In fact, radio remains the most dynamic, reactive and engaging medium. It informs and accompany us in our daily life, through news, entertainment or interaction with the audience.

Female participation increase in broadcasting and cinema sectors and gender equality promotion in the South-Mediterranean societies are the main objectives of a new project launched in February 2017: “Towards greater gender equality: promoting the role and image of women in the southern Mediterranean audiovisual sector – Smed WiA”.    
This EU-funded initiative will run during a period of 30 months in the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. Through two open calls it will support, on a sub-granting basis, six to eight projects seeking to achieve the above-mentioned goals.

History, gastronomy, traditional music and dances, society and media… These are some of the subjects covered in the 11 archive-based documentaries submitted to COPEAM in the framework of the contest “Making a story from archives”. Launched at the beginning of the year, the initiative was addressed to the young directors of the Balkans’ broadcasting members of COPEAM, and focused on the realization of audiovisual products about the cultural heritage of the Region, by using the archives of their respective organizations.

Bonn, 14-17 November 2017

Following two theoretic training workshops (in Tunisia in 2015 and in Morocco in 2016), that were aimed at providing the journalists involved with the basic notions concerning the climate change and the environmental challenges at the heart of the different international conferences on climate, this year the partnership between COPEAM and the European Investment Bank evolved into the creation of a transnational newsroom to ensure the media coverage of the COP23, the UN global conference on climate, which took place in Bonn (Germany) from 6 to 17 November 2017.

World Radio Day: Radio and sports

As a member of the World Radio Day committee, COPEAM invites its members to celebrate Radio and Sports, with the aim of strengthening diversity, peace and development through sports broadcasting. 

The radios are then invited to showcase the beauty of sports in all its variety, to celebrate the traditional sports that connect us to our cultural heritage, the grassroots sports that anchor us within our communities and the inspiring stories that challenge gender stereotypes and cover, equally, both men’s and woman’s sports events.

COPEAM-BEI transnational newsroom at COP24

For the second year, thanks once again to the support of the EIB-European Investment Bank, COPEAM has set up a transnational newsroom to cover the World Summit on Climate Change (COP24), which took place in Poland, Katowice, from 3 to 14 December 2018.
