
The Special Prize for the best documentaries of the series IR10 were awarded to:
“Dancing free” by Clara Blazquez Vizuete (RTVE/Spain)
Motivation: This inspirational documentary tells the story of how the art of dancing and ballet can be a means of inclusion and empowerment. An extraordinary photography, very rhythmical and musical editing and superb dramaturgy of this work help to create an extraordinary empathy with the two main protagonists, and with their successful battle to change the world through art.
“Life mask” by Fedia Ben Henda (Télévision Tunisienne/Tunisia)
Motivation: This touching film tells an amazing story about the power of theater play, and its potential in creating a different self-perception and behavioral change in young dropouts. With great care for narrative detail and social observation, the filmmaker brings us deeply into the artistic awakening of a young former drug dealer, who finds his way back to civil society through playing his own difficult past on stage.
The Special mention “Woman” in memory of Raffaella Rossetti* was assigned to:
“Adagio” by Ali Al Kinani (IRAQ TV)
Motivation: This mention is given to the best documentary of the series featuring a particularly courageous, active and independent woman whose action is a source of inspiration for other women and a model for a more cohesive and equal society.
* The special mention "Woman" was established in memory of Raffaella Rossetti, who passed away in August 2021 of a premature death. Eclectic and passionate woman and professional, she was, at COPEAM, at the origin of Inter-Rives project, believing in the power of audiovisual communication as a tool for knowledge and dialogue between cultures. We, all of us, continue to believe and invest in this concrete cooperation
