Mediterradio – Season Review

September 2025 – June 2026

The latest season of Mediterradio—co-produced by the regional stations of RAI Sardegna, RAI Sicilia and ici RCFM (Corsica)—was marked by renewed momentum and an expanded international dimension.

This season, the programme welcomed the collaboration of the Italian-language editorial teams of Radio Romania International (Romania), Radio Tunisienne (Tunisia), La Voce della Turchia – TRT Radio (Türkiye) and Radio Capodistria (Slovenia).

Each week, one of the new partners contributed to the programme, while several special editions were also produced. Through interviews, feature reports and musical contributions, each broadcaster enriched the editorial content and broadened the scope of the weekly magazine, highlighting the cultural, historical, social and economic ties linking these countries and their diverse cultures.

A total of 38 weekly episodes, each lasting 30 minutes, were produced and broadcast during the season.

Media partnerships:

In September 2025, the Mediterradio team was invited to Putignano (Puglia) by the cultural festival LectorInFabula, with which COPEAM has collaborated for many years. In May 2026, the team also took part in the 38° Parallelo Literary Festival in Marsala (Sicily).

During the latter event, a roundtable entitled “Mediterradio: A Sound Bridge, A Sea of Stories” explored the origins of this collaborative radio project, the spirit and objectives behind it, the value of cultural cooperation, and the role of language as a bridge between countries, cultures and identities.

The editorial team also met during the 2026 COPEAM Annual Conference in Tunis.

On each of these occasions, the co-producers recorded two special on-location editions of the programme, further strengthening their collaborative approach, shared editorial vision and professional relationships.

Main editorial themes:

Throughout the season, the programme focused on four major thematic areas:

• Culture, Heritage and Identity:preserving local identities and traditions through regional languages, craftsmanship, cuisine, festivals and celebrations, and the promotion of cultural heritage; cultural initiatives—exhibitions, festivals, theatre performances, film festivals and music events—including those highlighting connections between countries, collaborations and mutual influences; institutional and academic initiatives and exchanges between countries; literature and cinema.
• Society:providing a critical perspective on key social issues, including poverty, employment, youth, the fight against organised crime, healthcare and social inclusion.
• Environment and Sustainable Development:addressing environmental challenges and the climate crisis through projects focused on preservation, innovation and cooperation (including water management, pollution, desertification and olive cultivation), sustainable agriculture and the protection of marine ecosystems.
• History and Archaeology: exploring the Mediterranean’s shared past through archaeological sites, exhibitions, academic research and scholarship, and the preservation of historical memory.
