2008-06-12 – The international jury of the 27th International Grand Prix for Author’s Documentaries has proclaimed its prize list on Monday, June 9th, 2008.
Composed by 12 members and chaired by Laure Adler, the Jury has honoured four films among 105 documentaries presented by 66 television channels from 38 countries. The Prizes were awarded during the Monte Carlo Television Festival at the Hotel Hermitage.
The quality, the plurality of glances, the variety of the cultural and geographical origins of the four awarded films reflect URTI’s universal and humanist values.

In Uganda, parents sick with AIDS tell their memories in "memory books" which they will bequeath to their children.
This quite original initiative allows them to stay longer in their children’s memories beyond the fate brought by the disease.

In the Greek village of Zacharo (Sugartown), men have a serious problem: young women leave the area to go to live in cities.
With a humorous approach, this documentary subtly deals with a fact of society which tends to become widespread.

In search of the dark past of her grandfather on her father’s side, the director plunges us into France supporter of the Vichy government of the "National Revolution".
In a personal search, the author looks into her own family story by revealing the painful and sometimes unsaid memories.

In Bujumbura, in order to provide for their needs with much effort, women and children try hard to find some objects or food to resell among waste which accumulates in the rubbish dump of Buterere.
The Jury wanted to underline the quality of the direction as well as the strength and the purity of the pictures, which show with sobriety the extreme poverty of a jeopardized population in Burundi.
