As part of the 36° Carthage International Film Festival, TV5MONDE and COPEAM organized an event dedicated to the “À première vue” 2025 Award and to the cinema of the future at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis on 15 December.
The panel entitled “The cinema of the future: creativity, training, perspectives” brought together Zina Berrahal (TV5MONDE), Paola Parri (COPEAM), Lamia Belkaid Guiga, ESAC lecturers and researchers Insaf Arafa, Oubeyd Ayari and Wissem Tlili, as well as Kamir Abbas-Terki, the Algerian filmmaker who won the APV-TV5MONDE Award this year, along with other students and young Tunisian filmmakers.
Discussions focused on ways to nurture the talent of young filmmakers from North Africa and the Middle East, highlighting the crucial importance of training in the emergence of an innovative and competitive regional cinema. The young filmmakers also shared their experiences and perspectives on the challenges of creation today.
The round table was followed by a screening of the award-winning short films from the 2025 edition, representing a wide range of cinematic genres – documentary, comedy, thriller and archive-based experimental works – which attracted a large audience.
