Kantara - Another idea of the Mediterranean
Kantara is a weekly radio magazine in French that brings together 7 public radio broadcasters from across the Mediterranean basin: Radio Cairo (Egypt), ici RCFM (France), Chaîne Inter (Morocco), Radio Liban 96.2 (Lebanon), Radio Tunis Chaîne Internationale (Tunisia), REE Spanish External Radio, and, since May 2025, Radio 2M (Morocco). All are members of COPEAM.
Created in 1999, Kantara aims to reflect the realities of a shared and interconnected Mediterranean world. Each week, reports and/or guests from both shores of the Mediterranean address issues related to society and current affairs. Music plays a key role in completing this narrative: each episode of the program features tracks from the partner countries, offering a journey through diverse sounds and cross-cultural influences, blending past and present.
Thanks to its exceptional longevity, Kantara stands out in the field of radio cooperation. In today’s context, it serves as a stronghold for Euro-Arab intercultural dialogue, offering French, Moroccan, Egyptian, Tunisian, and Spanish audiences a space to learn, exchange ideas, and engage in constructive dialogue based on mutual understanding.
