Pilot project “Artificial Intelligence for Multilingual Radio Broadcasting”
As part of World Radio Day 2026 – dedicated to “Radio and Artificial Intelligence” – COPEAM has established a new collaboration with UNESCO to develop a pilot action focusing on a concrete and innovative application of artificial intelligence to the radio. This initiative will consist in translating and dubbing into one European language – Italian – a selection of episodes from the radio series “Arab Philosophers – Ancient and Contemporary”, originally produced in Arabic, a coproduction led by COPEAM and ASBU.
The pilot project – implemented in collaboration with the Ca’ Foscari University/Venice and Rai’s Research and Technological Innovation Centre (CRITS) – aims to test and document the entire linguistic adaptation process of the selection – from sound-to-text to the production of the dubbed version – using AI-powered technological solutions, thus enabling COPEAM to offer a practical and replicable example of the use of AI in the creation and diffusion of cultural radio content, particularly in a multilingual context.
