On 7 and 8 September 2026, a group of film directors from 12 TV members of COPEAM and ASBU (Arab States Broadcasting Union) met in Rome to kick off the new documentary coproduction “Inter-Rives” on the chosen topic “Shared Roots: Living Connections”
This 11th edition of this traditional Euro-Arab cooperation project led by COPEAM and ASBU gathers broadcasters from the whole Mediterranean Region and beyond, and namely: BNT/Bulgaria; EPTV/Algeria; ERT/Greece; FTV/France; HRT/Croatia; IMN/Iraq; JRTV/Jordan; MEDTV/Malta; PBC/Palestine; RAI/Italy; RTVE/Spain; TV Tunisienne/Tunisia.
During the workshop organized by COPEAM in Rome with the support of Rai-Radiotelevisione italiana, the film directors and experts involved in the project discussed and chose the stories that will compose the documentary series, and shared a common editorial framework.
Once achieved, Inter Rives 11 will bring to the screen stories of men and women who, through their work, passions and everyday practices, keep alive and reinterpret a shared cultural heritage shaped by centuries of encounters and exchanges across the Mediterranean.
In March 2027, in Tunis, the film directors will gather once again to present their films and analyze them together before finalization. Thanks to the so called “basket formula”, all the partner TVs will produce one short documentary (13’) and obtain the rights to broadcast on their channels the whole series, starting from April 2027.
In an era marked by conflicts and growing divisions, Inter Rives remains an effective cooperative project bringing together media professionals and audiences across Europe and the Arab region, aiming to highlight their shared heritage.
